Thomas Mills

President and CEO

Mr. Mills, co-founder of Waterfront Energy Capital, LLC, previously served as Senior Vice President-Business Development for Power Efficiency Corporation. In that role, he was responsible for marketing the company’s NASA-licensed and patented energy-efficiency motor control technology to public-sector, commercial and industrial customers, and for managing the firm’s private-label manufacturing relationships with multinational OEMs.

In addition to his operating and technical roles at PaceControls, Mr. Mills also oversees the company’s ENERGY STAR and OEM partnering activities. Mr. Mills has worked with the U.S. electric industry and its regulators for more than a dozen years, and has significant small-company, corporate financing and strategic partnering experience.

Mr. Mills holds a B.S.E. in Chemical Engineering from Princeton University, and an M.B.A. in Finance from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. He has four years of power operating experience as a U.S. Navy nuclear propulsion officer prior to business school, and he has done doctoral program coursework in Finance and in Logistics, Technology and Project Management at George Washington University, in Washington, DC. He is qualified as a Registered Representative with the NASD (Series 7 and 63), and has served on a number of small-company boards.

Mr. Mills was selected as a Cleantech Fellow for a Citi Foundation and SJF Institute-funded CEO program in 2010, and in 2011 was selected by the Hitachi Foundation as an entrepreneur mentor for its Yoshiyama Young Entrepreneurs Program.
