PACE2 Canadian Test Confirms 17% Air-Conditioning Energy Savings

PaceControls today announced the release of an independently conducted trial of its technology at a Canadian college’s conference and residential facility.  The report, which was third-party verified by a professional engineer, confirm results of a 17% reduction in summer cooling energy consumption.
Senior Vice President Dan Cook, who leads PaceControls’ Canadian initiatives, commented, “As Canadians, we need to do our part in reducing energy use and preserving the environment.  Our PACE2 product line is an easy-to-install, quick-payback solution that delivers a significant reduction in both energy use and costs for quite a range of heating and cooling equipment, as we’ve shown.”
Canadian energy management consultant David Katz, who coordinated the test through Centennial College’s Centennial Energy Institute, said in a statement: “As a result of a suggestion by the Chief Conservation Officer of Ontario, PaceControls engaged Sustainable Resources Management (SRM) to organize a test of the PACE2 technology for Ontario summer weather.  SRM was already working with the Centennial Energy Institute on energy management, so they were able to get permission from the Centennial Facility Management Department for a trial on two 10-ton air conditioning units.  SRM worked with Centennial staff to assist PaceControls in the implementation of the PACE2 testing, and witnessed the HOBO data acquisition.  SRM also confirmed the data’s accuracy, and measured occupancy using CO2 sensors with its independent Building Advice data acquisition system for a portion of the time.

SRM reviewed the PaceControls energy savings report, and performed its own independent analysis on the all the data acquired.  SRM had a consulting engineer working on a number of energy management projects, independently review both the PaceControls report and SRM’s own independent energy saving calculations.  SRM and the consulting engineer have provided PaceControls with their report, that confirms 17% PACE2 energy saving for the summer cooling load.  SRM recommends that PACE2 retrofits also be implemented on the building’s gas-fired heating equipment, to maximize the economics of the PACE2 retrofit energy saving and peak reduction technology.”
